THANK YOU FOR your interest in my Art.

Psychotherapy, writing, and art use both words and feelings to express inner being. Sometimes when I am at a loss with one of them, I can find my way using another.

There have been times in my life when my camera and I have been inseparable.

9/11/01 brought terrible sorrow. I used writing and art to talk about it. Click here for the Point of View article.

Making pottery is the hardest thing that I have ever done. It demands inner peace and total mind-body coordination to make something beautiful from a lump of clay. The slightest lapse can totally throw a piece off center. Making pottery gives new meaning to patience and practice. One of my pottery teachers, upon receiving compliments on an exquisite piece that she had just unloaded from the kiln, said “It took me 25 years to make that teapot.”

Working with paper helps me to understand how pieces fit together and complement each other.

I always carry my knitting with me. It helps me to both relax and focus.

Past and present combine to create future. The smell and feel of denim takes me back to my childhood. This quilt’s center is a scrap from the first skirt that I ever sewed.

It is surrounded by squares cut from more recent old skirts and old jeans. This quilt keeps me warm in northern winters.

Between Labor Day of 2012 and Memorial Day of 2013, I had 9 losses to death. They all mattered, but 3 of them were beloveds. I was grief stricken and felt inconsolable. I decided to get back into the pottery studio so that I could rest, heal, and feel without using words.
